Shaman Energy Card Reading for the week of 2020/08/10

The Journey

From birth until our passing, we are on a journey to learn and experience the world around us and how we relate to it. If you believe in reincarnation then you are experiencing the karma accumulated in previous lives. For some the journey in this life will not be a holiday. For others it may, and yet others, it may be a time when you can relax with not very many worries.

Whatever your karma has brought you, now is the time to set outside any boundaries that no longer serve you, they stop you from experimenting and doing new and different things.

There is no map for your journey, nothing tells you when you have arrived. This is a journey of exploration are learning and that is what your soul is here to do. Only you can judge when you have arrived. But, if you feel you have arrived, know that things will change again shortly after.

On the card, an owl, wings outstretched flies over head and behind the owl is the sun disk. Owls are intensely aware of their surroundings. Night vision is powerful, allowing it to see its prey when light is like a candle 2,500 feet away. Soft, thick wings let them fly silently to swoop down on their target. We must do the same on our journey.

The Sorcerer

The Sorcerer symbolizes beliefs and ideas of division, struggle and being without. We feel the sorcerer casts a shadow over our lives, but in reality, the shadows are own.

Our shadows may be narrow, broad, or generous in their focus. Either way, our busy mind loves to feed off the shadow energy from negative feelings. The sorcerer, is asking you to look at these energies, examine how destructive they are. What are you feeling resentment, vengeance, lust, greed, bigotry, or hatred about or to?

The Sorcerer is here to challenge you your thinking and beliefs. Now is a second chance! Start over. Others are not blame for what is inside of you, what you allow to be there. Take a moment to create a sense of peace and move in another direction and do not allow those negative thoughts and feelings to grow again. You are done with them and that way of living.

So, let’s get to the subject of this Podcast…

Today, we are talking about Five Spiritual Elements in Tibetan Shamanism

The five elements in Tibetan Shamanism are space, air, fire, water and earth. In Tibetan philosophy, these elements are symbols of the fundamental forces that compose all phenomenal appearance. These elements create an organized system and are also central to Tibetan Buddhism.

Tibetan prayer flags are bright and beautiful, but their colours aren’t just for show. Each hue signifies an element — and the flags are always arranged in a specific order, from left to right: blue, white, red, green, yellow. Blue represents the sky, white represents the air, red symbolizes fire, green symbolizes water, and yellow symbolizes earth. All five colours together signify balance.[1]

Tibetan Shamanism: ElementsColours
Space / SkyBlue
AirWhite
FireRed
WaterGreen
EarthYellow

A person is a blend of these elements, and to be truly healthy, the energies in these elements need to be balanced within the person.

These five elements – space, air, fire, water, and earth – are symbolic of the fundamental forces that are integral to all phenomena. As the body is developing in the womb, earth provides support, water provides cohesion, fire causes maturing, wind and air cause development, and consciousness, the element of space, provides spaciousness to form the body.

In Tibetan Buddhism and in Tibetan culture, life is seen through these five elements, which continually increase and decrease in relation to one another. This view forms the basis of medicine, astrology, the calendar, and psychology, and it underlies Tibetan traditions of shamanism, tantra, and Dzogchen.

Earth

The earth element is the densest expression in form, the most materially present, and is related to qualities of stability, hardness and heaviness.

To meditate and connect with Earth find a place where you can be quiet and sit.

For myself. This is a favourite bench close to a large lake. The lake will speak to the element of water which comes later. In the warm weather I will be wearing sandals and I will take them off and allow my feet to rest on the ground.

Clear your mind of all worries and try to shut out or simply ignore people and even animals around you. Connect and draw from the earth energy under your feet. I found that even in the cooler fall weather, the ground was “warm” to my bare feet. I also found that pains I had felt in my feet and lower legs went away and stayed away.

This connection to the earth is also known as a grounding exercise. You are grounding yourself and your psyche to something solid, the earth element.

If you are unable to find a suitable place to connect with earth, if you have plant pots in which plants are growing, rest your finger tips or your hands on the earth and concentrate on how it feels.

Earth element is stable. Always stable. If you are annoyed or angry at something or someone, focus on the stability of earth element to reduce and eliminate your anger.

Water

In my earth exercise I sat next to a large body of water, without knowing it, I was completing the water exercise at the same time.

While I was fortunate to be close to a large lake, the water in your bath, your shower, or the water you drink. All will help you feel and understand the water element.

Water, even a glass of water has enormous power and potential. It may be cool; it may be warm. It is deep, and peaceful until agitated by a spoon stirring your glass.

Water is the beginning of cohesive form; it is fluid and takes on the shape of any vessel it is in. Place drops of water close to each other on a flat surface, a little movement and the drops will come together and effortlessly combine.

There is no struggle, one drop does not negotiate with another as to whether they should combine or not. Two drops simply become one.

Your body is mostly water, connect with the element water, especially that in your own body. If you are in your bath or under your shower, feel how comforting and relaxing it is. If you swim, it will hold you up.

If you are angry or frustrated. Slow down and relax. Let the element of water remove your tensions and take them away. It is comforting, and like earth, it brings stability to you. Be like the water in the container, quiet and passive, allowing the situation to flow over you.

Fire

The place where I sit, the place that shows off the consistency and strength of earth and water also happens to be a very sunny place. I can sit there, close my eyes, feel the earth and listen to the water while the warmth of the sun beams down on me.

In winter, sit before a fire place with a fire burning, if you can. If you cannot burn fuel, a stove, a heater, even your oven while you are cooking is giving off fiery heat – careful not to burn yourself!

Concentrate on the feeling of heat on your face, arms, legs etc. bring the feeling of heat into your body, through the blood, it flows around the muscles, sinews, ligaments and organs.

In your psyche, fire helps your grow by ripening and maturing your thoughts and feelings. It burns negatives and negativity. Fire speaks to creativity and energetic achievement. Typing on a computer speaks to fire! It brings reality and new interesting things into being.

Fire is also related to digestion and nourishment the result of which creates the fuel to help your muscles move and stay strong.

If you feel dull, uninspired, listless or unmotivated. Think of the energy of the fire element and bring it into your body, into your limbs and your intention.

Air

Air is flow, movement strength and force. A strong wind that really has no substance can blow over a strong tall tree as well as a building if it is not built well or insecure.

Again, by the lake where I experience earth, water, and fire, I can also feel wind on my face. It is moving unseen and unheard from the water to the land and yet I feel and sense it.

Think of anger, discomfort, fear, unhappiness, even minor illness such as a headache. Negative thoughts and fears. Those thoughts and fears will make you unhappy, feel down or depressed. Let the wind blow those away and leave your psyche clean and clear, and refreshed.

Air drives sailboats and planes fly on it, and in it. So, do birds and the scent of flowers and seeds seeking a new home in the earth in which to grow.

Air is freedom, flexibility, ease. Let it lift your spirits with the energy and freedom it offers.

Think of air and its ease and internalise it, when you are in a situation that is constricting, limiting, think of air and let it blow those things away and lift your mood and your intention.

Space

Space is above our heads, we can look up on a clear night and see the stars, the moon, and the space between the stars. Let yourself be open to the wonder you are seeing and relax. Let the infinity of the space you are looking at come into your being and give you a sense of limitlessness.

Space – opens any tight, constricted places inside of you and dissolves away worries. The more and more you integrate with space, the more you are open to opportunities and the bigger your horizons become, you feel less limited or confined.

When you concentrate on space your mind is clearer, less cluttered and more energetic. You have less tension; you feel less disrupted. You can sit back and see the big picture and at the same time, seize the opportunities coming to you because you have more space to accommodate them.

Imbalance of elements

Imbalance can manifest itself in the physical dimension. A person with too much earth might be fat or overweight. They may feel devoid of energy and be lazy, dull or depressed.

They maybe forgetful, slow, or have very little progression in their personal or spiritual development.

The imbalance of the elements from the Dzogchen perspective is subtler. A person may lack stability in meditation, lack awareness of their connection to the base, lack concentration, lack understanding of sunyata.

Maybe a person is very unbalanced in a sense of the elements in Dzogchen, but he or she might not notice it because there’s nothing particularly wrong physically or psychologically.

If you often feel confused or encounter problems, it may be a lack of stabilizing earth. A lack of creativity means you are lacking fire. A lack of openness if you feel as if life is stopping you from speaking up is a lack of space. Someone who is inflexible lacks air.

Today, we are talking about Shamans and how they can help you.

Shamanism, as we have learned before, has existed for many millennia before the current organized religions were formed. A shaman may be male or female, young or old and is part of the community. Being part of their community, they blend in. In dress and behaviour, they are indistinguishable from ordinary people.

In the Shaman’s world view, spirits and demons inhabit everything around us. Every part of the natural environment is alive with sentient forces, in the mountains, trees, rivers, lakes, rocks, fields, the sky and the earth, there exists spiritual energy.

Healing is the principal role of a Shaman. They may also be counsellors, confidents, tribal leaders, diviners of future events and spiritual protectors. Shaman have access to, and influence in the world of benevolent and malevolent spirits.

So how do Shamans journey to meet these spirits and energies?

Using rhythmic drumming, dance, meditation, and experience and familiarity with their Helping Spirits the Shaman triggers a self-induced ecstatic state or Altered State of Consciousness [ASC] where they visit the spirits and souls beneficial to the outcome they seek.

Shaman do not use chemical or psychedelic drugs, or plant-based hallucinogens, or alcohol when initiating and entering an Altered State of Consciousness. To use drugs and stimulants would mean loss of control of the Journey. The Shaman is always free to start and stop the Altered State of Consciousness at their will. Shamans are not possessed.

Illness, pain and suffering frequently have a spiritual component. The Shaman seeks the spiritual connection to these afflictions in order to help bring the person they are working for, back into connection with the wholeness of the universe.

This may involve returning a soul or soul fragment to the person which has become separated due to some malevolent energy or some trauma the person has encountered or endured. They may also extract energies that do not belong. The Shaman is concerned with alleviating pain and suffering as well as reconnecting the person to their sources of spiritual power, the sun and moon, stones and streams, stars and trees.

The Shaman can help in other ways. Work and work environments, relationships, and the outcomes of new ventures. Untangling problems from past lives, and helping to make decisions. Providing meditations for relaxation and personal clearing or clearing unwanted energies from your energy field or home. Shamans remove curses, create powerful ceremonies, and bless events, marriages, and births. They assist the dead in crossing over to their next life and much more.

If you ever thought of traditional healers as involved with darkness because they do not fit in easily with modern medicine, think again.

Shaman’s do not diagnose or treat something such as a broken arm or something that needs surgery, these are best treated by a doctor and a Shaman will tell you so.

When we fall asleep at night it is restful and beneficial to us but it is a state of darkness we enter in order to receive these benefits.

When we plant a seed in the ground, we cover it up with darkness and wait for it to sprout into a new plant. A baby is conceived in darkness and develops in darkness.

Creativity comes out of nowhere which is darkness and yet the result is bright and colourful.

What are you afraid of, why are we afraid of the dark, and who taught you to fear what is amazing.

You know what, Shamans are amazing to!

Mindfulness Meditation on YouTube

Mindfulness is an active state of mind and it is a personal state of mind, there is no one-size-fits-all definition, no single way of practicing. There are no exams to pass, there are no proficiency levels and nothing to buy. It is a way to enhance health and improve performance. It is a tool for self-exploration. Others see it as part of a spiritual journey, a way to develop insight into the human condition and freedom from suffering.

As we move through each day, we spend much of it on auto pilot, when we arrive somewhere or finish a task, we often wonder how we got there or how we managed to complete the task. Auto pilot thinking often includes thinking or “dreaming” about doing or being somewhere else and not where we are or what we are doing. It includes making judgment[s] on what we perceive to be important as compared to our current state or obligations and this is a powerful fuel for our unhappiness about where and what we are.

The Practical Shaman – Reincarnation

The Practical Shaman - reincarnation book cover

Shamanism is the oldest religion on the planet!

In terms of human existence, it predates current day organized religions by tens of thousands of years. European cave paintings and carvings showing a shaman date from the Paleolithic era. Graves of shaman 12,000-year-old and older have been discovered in Israel and the Czech Republic.

Shamans have played an essential role in the defense of the psychic integrity of their community for thousands of years. Shaman are pre-eminently the antidemonic champions; they combat demons and disease, but also black magicians… In a general way, it can be said that shamanism defends life, health, fertility [and] the world of ‘light’, against death, diseases, sterility, disaster and the world of ‘darkness’… What is fundamental and universal is the shamans struggle against what we could call the ‘powers of evil. Shamans are not only able to foresee the future, but can change the outcome. As an example, shamans can find out where food or game is located for the community, or averting threats to the community. This is a vital difference between shamanism and clairvoyance.[1]

This book is part of The Practical Shaman series, books 1 and 2 are broad introductions into shamans and shamanism. This book concentrates on reincarnation and the beliefs and rituals that surround the soul. This book is connected to The Shaman Podcast – Episode 2, Reincarnation.

The Shaman Podcast: Episode 1

Speaker –        Mark A. Ashford

Usui Tibetan Reiki Master and Teacher

What this is – This is the inaugural episode of “The Shaman Podcast”

When will this show appear – Monthly

What will we talk about? –

  1. Shamanism
  2. Reiki – Reiki energy healing, especially the lineage I follow originated in Tibet, in Shamanistic practices that were recorded in Tibetan Buddhist Texts and practices that from the 8th century onward.

Media –

  1. This Podcast is one of several media available to you to help you understand and develop your awareness of energy healing and practices, history, tradition and a little anthropology.

The others are:

  1. YouTube videos – “Reiki with Candice, Mark, and Opame” – Candice and Opame are two of my guides.
  2. Books – eBooks and Paperback books – in full colour available on Amazon.ca Search for Mark A. Ashford
  3. The blog at ThePracticalShaman.ca

Let’s Look at what was posted today:

  1. Clearing your Space

Your space can be anywhere you spend time and over which you have control.

  1. Your home
  2. Your Car
  3. Your Office

Why do we have to clear our space?

The short answer is “Energy Attachment”

Our physical body is a container for our soul our spirit which moves form life to life gathering knowledge and understanding and also merit, merit being the final sum of our good and bad deeds done through this existence.

Not all souls and spirits pass over into the next life completely or sometimes not at all. They remain as non-caporal entities on this plain. They attach themselves to sources of energy, that is you and me, and especially those of us with the clear and bright energy aura.

We may encounter them on a train, the subway, on a bus, walking the streets, in a restaurant, at the mall, anywhere. They come home with us and stay in our homes where it is nice and warm and comfortable and where we provide them with energy.

To detach and clear these souls and spirits out of our life, and our home, we need to clear out space.

The traditional way is to:

  1. Ask Archangel Michael for protection as we are clearing our space. This is important because some of the souls and spirits may be “dark and lower energies.” If there are pets and other people in the space, these need protection from the Archangel as well.
  2. Light a smudge wand let it start burning and the blow out the flames so it glows, smolder’s, and gives off sage smoke.
  3. In each room of the house, starting from the highest point in the home use the smudge wand to draw the following symbol:
    1. Open a window for spirits and souls to leave your space.
    1. Draw a square.
    1. Start at the lower left corner, draw across to the bottom right corner, draw up to the top right corner, across to the upper left corner. Then back down to the bottom left.
    1. Draw an “X” starting from the top left corner, draw down towards the bottom right, and then from the top right corner, down to the bottom left.
    1. While you are drawing this symbol announce your intention:

“All beings of light and love only.”

“Lower energies do not belong here. You! Must leave.”

  1. You will need to do this in each corner of the room as well as blowing smoke under the bed, in closets, in cupboards, in all hallways, basements, bathrooms, drawers.
    1. Your space need to ne saturated with sage smoke and your intention.

Then leave and take a walk for about 45 minutes.

Of course, places that are shared such as a bus or train, your office space etc. cannot be smudged. But…

I work with my guides to clear a shared space or maybe just the space around me.

When I get home – from anywhere – the gas station, the mall, the grocery store, the corner store, a neighbour’s house… anywhere. I ask Archangel Michael to cut and destroy any energy cords, etheric cords, or attachments from my soul, spirit, aura, physical self, or my chakras. I include pets in my request for his intervention. They can attract energy attachments as well and need our loving care in this context as well.

Amen.
